Fiona Wallace 1964-2019

People First (Scotland) announced recently, with great sadness, the death of our chairperson, Fiona Wallace. Fiona died, aged 54, suddenly on Monday 14th January 2019 at her home in Midlothian after attending a meeting of our Law and Human Rights Group in Edinburgh.

Fiona was a founding member of People First (Scotland) and had been active in the self-advocacy movement since the 1980s. She was elected as the Chairperson of this organisation in 2016 and had previously represented People First internationally in Belgium, Ireland, Canada and the United States. She campaigned tirelessly for the rights of People with learning disabilities generally but she had absolute passion for rights to education and employment and to health services.

She is sadly missed.
