People First (Scotland) response to the Scottish Mental Health Law Review

We are concerned about some of the recommendations made by the Scottish Mental Health Law Review. In particular, the recommendation that learning disability and mental illness remain within the same legal framework. If we remain within a system designed for people experiencing mental illness then our human rights will continue to be restricted and we are denied real change. We are disappointed that the model of supported decision-making described is limited and we can still have our rights to make decisions taken away from us.
